Position Summary

The UI/UX and Web Designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the visual design, usability and accessibility of RETVE’s website and web application.

The position will build upon the company’s existing high-fidelity prototype and help ensure that the platform provides a clear, consistent and user-friendly experience for Veterans with different backgrounds, abilities and levels of technical experience.

The designer will work closely with the Full-Stack Web Application Developer and the management team to translate product requirements, user feedback and operational priorities into practical interface designs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and refine RETVE’s existing UI/UX prototype.
  • Design responsive web pages and application interfaces for desktop, tablet and mobile use.
  • Develop user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and interactive prototypes.
  • Maintain visual consistency across the dashboard, employment, resume-building, housing, government-services and social-support modules.
  • Improve the clarity and usability of forms, navigation menus, filters, notifications and user-profile functions.
  • Create design components, icons, layouts and visual assets required for the platform.
  • Collaborate with the developer to ensure that approved designs can be implemented effectively.
  • Prepare design specifications and provide guidance regarding spacing, typography, layout and interface behaviour.
  • Support accessibility-focused design, including readable typography, appropriate visual contrast, clear navigation and compatibility with assistive technologies.
  • Review implemented pages and identify inconsistencies between the approved design and the functioning application.

Position Summary

The Full-Stack Web Application Developer will be responsible for developing, integrating, testing and maintaining RETVE’s web application.


The developer will convert approved UI/UX designs into functional platform features and establish the technical foundation required for user accounts, employment tools, resume development, application tracking, resource directories and future integrations.


The position will work closely with the UI/UX and Web Designer, management team and external technical advisors where specialized support is required.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Review RETVE’s Application Design Brief, existing prototype and technical requirements.
  • Recommend and document an appropriate application architecture and technology stack.
  • Develop front-end interfaces based on approved UI/UX designs.
  • Develop and maintain back-end application functions and business logic.
  • Establish and manage the application database.
  • Develop user-registration, login, authentication and account-management functions.

The Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, management team, UI/UX and Web Designer, and Partnerships and Community Outreach Coordinator.

The Quality Assurance Tester will be responsible for evaluating RETVE’s web application to identify technical defects, usability concerns and inconsistencies before wider user access.


The role will support the transition from functional development into controlled testing and market readiness. The tester will work closely with the Full-Stack Web Application Developer, UI/UX and Web Designer, Client Support Representative and management team to confirm that platform functions operate as intended and provide a reliable experience across supported devices and browsers.


The position may initially be established on a contract or project basis and expanded according to the scope of development, testing requirements and frequency of future software releases.
